ABSTRACT

A healthy environment constitutes the basis of health for the population that inhabits it. The environment has become one of the most recently researched objects of study, due to its great influence in terms of the emergence of multiple diseases that afflict Mexican society, most of them chronic and degenerative diseases, but, above all, diseases preventable despite their genetic predisposition. Next, there is a brief description of concepts, theories and research that support the intervention carried out in a preschool in Mexico City to promote increased vegetable intake in girls and boys. A quasi-experimental design was used with pretest-posttest in two groups: control and experimental. Among the results were the increase in the frequency of vegetable consumption in both groups; On the other hand, the caregivers changed their opinion regarding the importance of a garden in their home and expressed that one of the main barriers they have to direct their sons and daughters to have a healthy diet is their ignorance of it.
