Knowledge about the deficit attention disorder in university professors

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Among the frequent disorders in childhood which produce serious difficulties in learning, the attention deficit disorders with hyperactivity can be found, it is a frequent psychiatric affection in Children Psychiatry.
Objective: To describe the Knowledge of deficit attention disorder and hyperactivity in university professors in the Municipal University Center in Güines before and after an intervention strategy.
Methods: An intervention type Quasi experimental was performed before and after, without control group, in the Municipal University Center in Güines, Mayabeque province, from November, 2016 to May, 2018. The population or universe was formed by 40 professors. The statistical analysis of the percentages was carried out using the contingence table and X2 docima.
Results: The 80 % of the professors had insufficient information and unknowledge about the key elements of the pathological syndrome during the initial phase of the investigation. After the educative intervention was applied it could be shown that the 100 % of the professors of the institution reported having the necessary knowledge about that clinical disease.
Conclusions: There are inadequate knowledge about the attention deficit disorders and hyperactivity in the professors. It was evidenced that after the intervention there was an inadequate knowledge about the topic.
