Excímer láser: una herramienta subestimada en el arsenal terapéutico de la alopecia areata

RESUMEN

ANTECEDENTES: La alopecia areata (AA) es una enfermedad autoinmune no cicatricial caracterizada por pérdida súbita de cabello, con impacto significativo en la calidad de vida. A pesar de múltiples opciones terapéuticas, un porcentaje considerable de pacientes presenta respuesta incompleta o recaídas, lo que obliga a buscar alternativas eficaces y seguras. El láser excímer de 308 nm ha emergido como una opción no farmacológica prometedora.
MATERIAL Y MÉTODO: Se describen dos casos pediátricos con AA refractaria a tratamientos convencionales, manejados con terapia semanal de láser excímer de 308 nm, con ajuste progresivo de dosis según tolerancia clínica. RESULTADOS: En ambos casos se observó repoblación capilar clínicamente significativa con 12 a 17 sesiones semanales de hasta 300 mJ/cm².
CONCLUSIONES: El láser excímer de 308 nm representa una alternativa terapéutica segura, eficaz y accesible en pacientes pediátricos con alopecia areata refractaria, con potencial para disminuir la carga de tratamientos sistémicos y mejorar la calidad de vida.
