Diarrea en el niño con cáncer

RESUMEN
La frecuencia de neoplasias malignas en nuestro país muestra una tendencia creciente. En pediatría el cáncer
representa la segunda causa de muerte en menores de 15 años. Los problemas infecciosos en el paciente con
cáncer representan un grave problema, con frecuencia relacionado con la mortalidad. La enfermedad diarreica en
el niño con cáncer puede ser originada por la infección por gérmenes habituales, oportunistas y multirresistentes.
Además, la diarrea puede estar determinada por la misma neoplasia maligna o por el efecto secundario de la quimioterapia
y/o la cirugía. La intervención oportuna para el diagnóstico y el inicio de cobertura antibiótica amplia son
fundamentales para un mejor pronóstico.
