INTRODUCCIÓN

La cirugía torácica se asocia a dolor postoperatorio intenso y a una alta incidencia de complicaciones pulmonares postoperatorias. Aunque el manejo analgésico ha evolucionado, con técnicas regionales y esquemas multimodales, el enfoque predominante sigue centrado en la reducción del dolor, medido por escalas subjetivas del dolor. El dolor tiene implicaciones fisiopatológicas directas sobre la ventilación, la tos y el manejo de secreciones.
