Encefalopatía de Hashimoto: Reporte de un caso

RESUMEN

La encefalopatía de Hashimoto fue descrita por primera vez en 1966. Desde entonces la literatura muestra una relación de presentación mujer-hombre de 4:1. En el presente artículo reportamos un caso de un hombre de 53 años sin antecedentes de importancia, el cual inició con deterioro cognitivo y convulsiones tónico-clónicas generalizadas. A su ingreso con una prueba minimental de Folstein de 22/30 puntos. Se solicitaron exámenes de laboratorio que reportaron anticuerpos anti-tiroglobulina 1:168 y anti-microsomales 1:550.9. El electroencefalograma reportó disminución en ondas theta. En la resonancia magnética no se encuentra reforzamiento de ninguna zona cerebral. Se realizó diagnóstico de encefalopatía de Hashimoto. Inició tratamiento con corticoesteroides, resolviendo el cuadro clínico y la función cognitiva.
