RESUMEN

Los autores presentan una revisión de la respuesta inflamatoria, así como de los cambios locales y sistémicos que ocurren simultánea o secuencialmente, teniendo en cuenta la respuesta vascular y celular. Se describen las diferentes clases de mediadores específicos que contribuyen a estos eventos y revisan los aspectos farmacológicos de los esteroides en el manejo de la inflamación y en la citocinas inflamatorias.
