FRAGMENTO

El cierre de paladar hendido en dos tiempos constituye una de las principales estrategias en algunos protocolos de tratamiento de labio y paladar hendidos a nivel mundial; sin embargo, aunque fue descrita hace casi ya un siglo en 1921 por Gillies y Fry, sus resultados son aún debatibles. Dicha técnica ha sido y es aún cuestionada por múltiples equipos especializados en paladar hendido, en cuanto a si esta cirugía es capaz de brindar un óptimo desarrollo del lenguaje, aunado a un adecuado crecimiento maxilar.
