Fracturas de fémur proximal en edad pediátrica

RESUMEN

Las fracturas de cadera en la población pediátrica son lesiones poco frecuentes, representando menos de 1% de todas las fracturas en este grupo de edad. Asociándose en su mayoría a lesiones de alta energía, sin embargo, presentándose también en pacientes con otras enfermedades que predisponen a lesiones óseas. La clasificación anatómica se realiza según Delbet-Colonna en el sitio afectado, incluyéndose en este estudio las fracturas ubicadas en la región subtrocantérica. El método de tratamiento se determina por la edad, el tipo de fractura y las enfermedades concomitantes. La importancia del tratamiento adecuado y oportuno de estas fracturas radica en la prevención de complicaciones tales como necrosis avascular, deformidades angulares, no unión, daño fisario y consecuente discrepancia de longitud de miembros.
