ABSTRACT

Hip fractures in the pediatric population are rare lesions, representing less than 1% of all fractures in this age group. Partnering mostly high-energy injuries, however, also appearing in patients with other diseases that predispose bone lesions. Anatomical classification is performed according to Delbet-Colonna at the affected site, including fractures in this study located in the subtrochanteric region. The method of treatment is determined by age, type of fracture and comorbidities. The importance of proper and timely treatment of these fractures is the prevention of complications such as avascular necrosis, angular deformities, nonunion, physeal damage and consequent length discrepancy members.
