ABSTRACT

The realization of PAE based on a theoretical model according to the semester completed by students of the degree in nursing from the Faculty of higher studies Iztacala UNAM, represents a basic element within the curriculum, therefore this research objective was to identify which was the theoretical model more applicable according to the experience of students in the final year of the Bachelor in nursing for the elaboration of the PAE, and utility of a model of care for the preparation of the PAE. Methodology: quantitative, not experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional study. The sample was not probabilistic convenience composed of 103 students. An instrument with a Likert-type scale with five response options to measure the usefulness of models in the development of PAE, with 22 items divided in 3 dimensions was constructed. The validity of the instrument was of opinion, as featured expert opinion. The reliability of Cronbach Alpha was 0.89. Results: “Usefulness of the model of Virginia Henderson” item was mostly cited as always useful by students at 46%, followed by the item “Utility of the models used in the elaboration of the PAE” with 27.1% Discussion: the data obtained are similar to those reported by Santos et al. (2011) who obtained a greater preference of Virginia Henderson model by your respondents. Conclusions: it can be seen that students consider relevant the use of a model for the development of PAE.
