ABSTRACT

In onychocryptosis, the distal edge of the nail plate is embedded in the lateral skin folds to different degrees, and can develop pictures with great hypertrophy of the same, which slowly cover the surface of the same, which can even perforate the soft tissue that covers it, resulting in the formation of a skin fold called a "bridge" over said structure. These cases are usually observed in young patients, with a history of repetitive avulsion of the nail plate and/or recurrent trauma, with partial matricectomy being the surgical treatment of choice. In this article, three cases of grade IV onychocryptosis with skin bridge formation are reported, and the surgical technique used for its treatment is described.
