ABSTRACT

Erythema annulare centrifugum (EAC) is a rare chronic inflammatory dermatosis characterized by lesions that form ring-shaped, urticarial-like plaques that expand to the periphery, leaving a healthy center surrounded by scales; in general, the lesions are usually located on the trunk and lower extremities. The pathogenesis of the disease is so far unknown but it is considered a hypersensitivity reaction to different agents. There are two variants of the disease superficial and deep form with different clinical and histological manifestations. It generally has a good prognosis and the course is usually self-limited, asymptomatic and chronic. Since it is a chronic and infrequent dermatosis, it is important to know about it in order to take it into account as a diagnosis. Management is usually difficult due to the high recurrence.
