ABSTRACT
Objective: To assess the oral health of practicing dentists.Methodology: An exploratory and qualitative transversal investigation was carried out on a sample-group of 60 dentists practicing in the metropolitan area of Mexico City.
Results: Research showed that 46.7% subjects in the sample-group required dental care. Of these, 40.0% required treatment for decay, 18.3% prosthesis, 41.7% substitution of a defective obturation, 5.0% extraction, 13.3% substitution of a defective prosthesis, and 5.0% periodontal treatment.
Conclusions: It is imperative that dentists show greater consistency between their personal habits and the advice and motivation they give patients on the prevention and opportune treatment of oral disease.
