ABSTRACT

Background: Paraneoplastic glomerulopathies are a scarce manifestation of oncologic diseases. Tumors frequently associated with kidney disease include gastrointestinal neoplasms and lung carcinomas. The most commonly subtypes in men are extracapillary, membranous and mesangiocapillary nephropathy, and minimal change disease in women.
Clinical case: A 40-year-old male patient in which a rapidly progressive focal and segmental glomerulosclerosis associated with urachal adenocarcinoma was found during haematuria approach.
Conclusions: Nowadays no study has been able to determine the true incidence of glomerular impairment in cancer, but a link has been identified between several particular glomerulopathies and specific cancers.
