ABSTRACT

The reporting, prevention and monitoring of acts of sexual harassment in university environments are a task that is being strengthened through the implementation of institutional policies. The various actions that are being developed is to promote the empowerment process. Within these efforts, psychological accompaniment occupies a major place. The main intention of this work was to present some guidelines that can guide psychological support for people who have been or are being victims of sexual harassment in university environments. This document is based on the theoretical stance of humanistic existential psychology. Psychological work from this perspective offers means through which people can become aware of the way in which they are experiencing the social demands that seek to impose on them ways of being, thinking and feeling, depending on whether they are men or women. One of the principles of psychological accompaniment is to create a space of respect and empathy that promotes people's contact with their experiences. An important part of this work is the promotion and dissemination of actions that incur in the crimes of harassment and sexual harassment. Another purpose of this accompaniment is to promote the management of emotions. Finally, it is important to present examples of empowerment within spaces in which these practices have been silenced to maintain the established order.
