ABSTRACT

Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (pjs) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by hamartomatous polyposis and mucocutaneous pigmentation. The mucosal and semi-mucosal pigmented lesions, particularly in the oral cavity, affects 80-96% of individuals. There is limited literature on the treatment of the associated mucocutaneous pigmentation.
Cryosurgery using liquid nitrogen was applied in multiple sessions, soft spray was applied compared to contact tips, in separate sessions of approximately one to two months to better monitor the evolution. The contact-tip approach showing more effective and durable results, including the formation of blisters in the treated areas.
We propose cryosurgery as a treatment option for these pigmented lesions, which can cause aesthetic concerns for patients.
