ABSTRACT
Background: Laryngeal schwannoma is a benign tumor that originates from Schwann cells of the peripheral nervous system, representing between 0.1-1.5% of benign laryngeal tumors. This type of tumor commonly occurs in patients in their thirties to sixties and can cause symptoms such as dysphagia, dysphonia, and a sensation of a foreign body.Clinical case: A 48-year-old female patient who consulted due to a sensation of a foreign body in the pharynx. Through laryngoscopy and tomography, a submucosal lesion in the right ventricular fold was identified and surgically excised without complications. The definitive diagnosis was histopathologically confirmed as laryngeal schwannoma.
Conclusions: This case highlights the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in the follow-up of these patients, ensuring the rehabilitation of vocal and swallowing function, as well as continuous monitoring for potential recurrence. Research and management of cases like this are crucial for improving the understanding of this disease.
