ABSTRACT
Introduction: Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is rare; it develops in areas of the skin exposed to the sun in individuals over 50 years of age. It tends to grow rapidly and metastasize at a distance. Case report: a 77-year-old male with a painless tumor in the left ischiorectal fossa. The ultrasound reported a nodule, which was resected, measuring 52.6 × 35.8 × 24.6 mm. Histopathology reported neuroendocrine carcinoma, poorly differentiated. Immunohistochemistry: compatible with CCM. Conclusion: MCC is a skin cancer of neuroendocrine origin. The treatment includes surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.REFERENCES
