ABSTRACT

Introduction: headache is a common symptom associated with a wide range of conditions. However, a thorough clinical evaluation can help identify serious underlying diseases in a timely manner. Objective: to present the case of a pediatric patient who presented to the emergency department with headache and was ultimately diagnosed with central nervous system Burkitt lymphoma. Case presentation: male patient aged 3 years 11 months presented with a seven-day history of headache and right eyelid ptosis, requiring hospitalization. Cranial and orbital CT imaging revealed a lesion in the sphenoid bone. A biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma. Despite initiation of treatment, the patient died due to infectious complications. Conclusion: this case highlights the importance of detailed clinical history-taking and a comprehensive neurological examination in pediatric patients presenting with headache.
