Treatment of ameloblastic fibroma through mandibulectomy and reconstruction with a custom prosthesis

ABSTRACT

Ameloblastic fibroma is a benign odontogenic tumor that occurs in the first and second decades of life, with a higher prevalence in the posterior region of the mandible. It represents 2% of all odontogenic tumors. The objective of this article is to describe the management of a patient diagnosed with ameloblastic fibroma affecting the body, ramus, and condyle of the left mandible, who attended the Maxillofacial Surgery Service of High Specialty Medical Unit (UMAE) No. 1, León, Guanajuato, Mexico, and was treated in an interdisciplinary manner with the head and neck oncology service through hemimandibulectomy and mandibular reconstruction with a customized prosthesis for condyle and glenoid cavity replacement.
