ABSTRACT
Rupture of the long head of the biceps is a common shoulder injury, especially in older people or athletes who perform repetitive lifting or strength movements. The biceps brachii has two parts or heads: the short head and the long head. The long head inserts into the upper part of the shoulder blade's glenoid cavity (scapula) and is more susceptible to injury due to its constant travel and tension. Injuries affecting the long head of the biceps tendon are common causes of shoulder pain and disability. Biceps tenotomy and tenodesis have gained wide acceptance as effective procedures for treating isolated pathology and combined rotator cuff and biceps-labral complex injuries.REFERENCES
