ABSTRACT
Introduction: brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) commonly present with hemorrhage (65%) and seizures (15-35%), but they can also exhibit atypical symptoms that challenge clinical diagnosis. Clinical case: a 34-year-old male presented with left hemifacial and brachial paresis, assessed with three points on the NIHSS scale. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a vascular malformation in the right precentral frontal area. The unusual presentation of this case is associated with the location of the AVM; however, there was no evidence of ischemia or hemorrhage. Conclusion: identifying sudden focal neurological deficits as an atypical manifestation of AVMs is crucial for improving clinical prognosis.REFERENCES
