The differential diagnosis of the posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) of the radial is broad, including intraneural and extraneural processes and direct trauma. In Monteggia fracture-dislocation, this is reported in 17% of cases and up to 14% after surgical treatment. Cases of complex fractures of the radial head are described. It has been reported during arthroscopic procedures of the elbow in 0.2% of cases, as it is close to the anterolateral entry port.
