ABSTRACT
The ETCO
2 has been used for decades as the gold standard in orotracheal intubation (quantitatively or qualitatively), reference parameter and even goal in the management of pathologies, in turn the capnography curve provides us with great patient information. Currently the ETCO
2 goes beyond limiting itself to this, considering itself part of the advanced hemodynamic monitoring, being very useful in goal directed therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, base-acid status, cardiac output, etc. There are methods called capnotracking and capnodynamic which generate breathing with breathing interpreted in a cardiac output monitor, offering dynamic variables, being very useful in the perioperative context and critical patient management.
