ABSTRACT

Animal experimentation has been a fundamental pillar in the development of medicine and veterinary science, enabling significant advances in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of human and animal diseases. However, its use raises important ethical dilemmas that have led to the emergence and consolidation of bioethics as a framework for reflection and regulation. This article analyzes the relevance of animal experimentation from a bioethical perspective, highlighting the need to balance scientific progress with respect for and the welfare of animals used in research.
