ABSTRACT
Introduction: clinical simulation has become an important tool in medical education, particularly in the training of anesthesiology residents, as it allows the development of both technical and non-technical skills in a controlled environment without risk to patients. Objective: to describe the perceptions of anesthesiologists who completed their residency training regarding the role of simulation-based medical education during residency and its application in professional practice. Material and methods: a descriptive cross-sectional observational study was conducted using an electronic survey distributed to anesthesiologists who graduated from the residency program at Centro Médico ABC between 2013 and 2023. The survey aimed to explore graduates’ perceptions regarding the role of clinical simulation during residency training and its applicability in professional practice. Results: among respondents, 97.2% considered clinical simulation an essential component of their training. All participants (100%) reported applying skills developed during simulation scenarios in their professional practice. Graduates highlighted improvements particularly in crisis management, clinical decisionmaking, teamwork, effective communication, and other non-technical skills relevant to patient safety. Conclusions: graduated anesthesiologists perceive clinical simulation as a valuable educational tool during residency training, particularly for the development of clinical and nontechnical skills applicable to the management of critical situations in professional practice.REFERENCES
