Introduction

The Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB) has recently updated major clinical practice guidelines for Red Blood Cell (RBC) and platelet transfusion. The 2023 AABB International RBC Guidelines addressed transfusion thresholds in hemodynamically stable adults and children, the 2025 AABB guideline specifically addressed patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), and the 2025 AABB/International Collaboration for Transfusion Medicine Guidelines (ICTMG) platelet guideline expanded recommendations across adult and pediatric populations. All three guidelines used the GRADE f ramework to evaluate certainty of evidence and to distinguish strong from conditional recommendations.
