ABSTRACT

angle mandibular fractures represent 45% of all the mandibular fractures, their biomechanical characteristics enable the treatment of these fractures to be used for several methods; the fracture type require and their environment to achieve an appropriate treatment. Fifty nine angle mandibular fractures were analyzed in 55 patients treated in the Service of Maxillo-facial Surgery of the Hospital de Traumatología y Ortopedia “Lomas Verdes” taking into account the morphology of the fracture, the inclusion of third molars and the indications to remove them, determining the type of Osteosynthesis to use. Osteosynthesis was performed with plates and screws of system 2.0 and 2.4 mm; all fractures consolidated with good cosmetic and functional results. Complications were presented in four cases, three due to infection and one to implant exposure. Considering the results we think that the parameters used are appropriate to offer a good treatment of the angle mandibular fractures.
