Clinical effective of the formocresol vs hydroxide of calcium in pulpotomy of primary teeth: Preliminary report

ABSTRACT

Background: Formocresol from its beginning, has been a controversial medicament for it’s properties. Objective: To determine the clinical effectiveness of formocresol vs calcium hidroxide in pulpotomy on primary teeth. Method: Cuasiexperimental study. Twelve patients of the Clinica Multidisciplinaria Reforma of the UNAM, were treated with both medicaments having a total of 24 pulpotomy. Results: The clinical effectiveness of formocresol was determined in 91.7%. Conclusions: In spite of the controversy that still exists on its use, formocresol continues being the ideal product for pulpotomy treatment in primary teeth.
