ABSTRACT
The use of cyanoacrylates has been reported since 1959 as a substitute for suture and surgical dressing with favorable results.
Besides their fast and easy application, hemostatic, and bacteriostatic properties; cyanoacrylates does not need to be removed during post-operative follow-up.
Nineteen gingivectomies, 4 free gingival grafts and 2 biopsies were performed using cyanoacrylate compared with 10 gingivectomies 4 free gingival grafts and 2 biopsies using periodontal dressing and suture.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare clinically the surgical management of cyanoacrylate placement versus periodontal dressing and suture, as well as to quantify the evolution time until complete healing of both procedures.
The results show that the use of cyanoacrylate reduces time without affecting healing.
