ABSTRACT

Splenic cysts are rare entities, and the occurrence of associated complications such as rupture is less common. They are usually asymptomatic, causing symptoms as a result of growth, infection or rupture. The diagnosis is established based on results of ultrasound scan, axial computerized tomography, and histopathological examination. The expression of tumor markers such as CA 19.9 by the squamous epithelium of the cyst has been reported recently. The total or partial laparoscopic splenectomy, are the therapies of choice in the treatment of this condition.
