ABSTRACT

Behcet ‘s disease is a chronic and rare disease. The main symptom is the triad of oral ulcers, genital and ocular involvement, but can affect all systems. Presents more frequent worldwide distribution in Turkey, Middle East and Far East. In America and Europe it is rare. It is characterized by periods of remission and exacerbation of the disease and its association with the histocompatibility antigen HLA-B51 (B5) suggests a genetic predisposition. The diagnosis is made by means of the criteria of the International Study Group for Behçet’s Disease.
