ABSTRACT

Schwannomas are benign encapsulated tumors that usually appear as a laterocervical asymptomatic mass of slow growth. We present four cases of lateral mass, pathologically diagnosed of schwannomas, from different locations nerve: XI cranial nerve, X cranial nerve, cervical sympathetic and superficial cervical plexus. The preoperative diagnosis of these lesions is difficult. The treatment of choice is the surgical excision, being sometimes difficult to conserve the original nerve.
