Gastric diverticulum: case report and literatura review

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Gastric diverticulum is a protrusion of the stomach wall. It’s a rare and uncommon disease which its prevalence in contrasting radiographic studies reaches 0.04% while by endoscopy it reaches 0.11% by. The average age of onset is 20 to 60 years, with an average size of 4 cm and are mainly located in the posterior wall of the stomach. Clinical case study: Male 48 years old with no history of importance. Start your condition with regurgitation and predominantly nocturnal reflux 2 years of evolution, being treated with dietary changes and medications without clinical improvement. A esophagus-gastroduodenal series and endoscopy is performed which reports probable gastric diverticulum. Surgical treatment is decided, performing diverticulum resection with laparoscopic Endo GIA linear stapler and then fundoplication. The patient progressed satisfactorily without complications. Conclusions: Gastric diverticulum is a rare condition, and its diagnosis should be considered in patients with reflux symptoms that do not respond to treatment. The esophagus-gastroduodenal series and endoscopy are essential tools for diagnosis support. Treatment with laparoscopic approach is described as a safe and accepted for resection of symptomatic diverticulum.REFERENCES
