ABSTRACT

This review article emphasizes the importance of Mestre’s paper (2014) in that it addresses a fundamental issue in making human development, which is empathy and prosocial behavior. In addition, it is analyzed the difference in the definition of the styles, parenting practices, and direct modeling and its differential effect on the different motivations of children and adolescents to behave in prosocial ways. Finally, it is to explain why the influence of parents on prosocial behavior of children beyond the school, studied through the behavior of peers and school performance.
