Psycho technical properties of the Scale of Emotional Climate for Mexican adults

ABSTRACT

The study examines the psychometric properties of the Emotional Climate Scale (Páez et al., 1997) and its factorial structure. The scale was applied to a sample of 552 people from the State of Mexico. Reliability analysis indicated that the scale has moderate internal consistency (alpha = .64). Two factors found (positive emotional climate and negative emotional climate) explained 52.1% of the variance. The scale showed adequate convergent validity with a scale of social problems (Páez, Fernández, Ubillos, & Zubieta, 2004). This is the first study reporting the psychometric properties of the Scale of Emotional Climate in Mexico.
