Description, application and evaluation of a program of self-esteem in students of basic education in Cumana, Venezuela

ABSTRACT

The present article describes the application of the Program of Self-esteem (To trust one same one) of Haeussler PI, Milicic MN, in a sample of 17 children during three years, in the State Sucre, Cumana city, Venezuela; the children belonged at half high a socioeconomic level. During the three years a total of 75 sessions was realised, once to the week. Before the application of the Program, there was an evaluation Pre-test with the instrument of Self-esteem TAE of Marchant OT (2002) and Post-Test. The results of the Pre-test show a population with more than 60% with a score below 18 points of the questionnaire, indicating a low self-esteem and in the Post-test it demonstrates that there was one it influences significant in the application of the self-esteem program, where 80% of the population increased their score in the questionnaire, demonstrating itself an increase in the self-esteem. More than 80% of the studied population they have an attitude of confidence against itself, they act surely and people in charge feel reason why they feel and they do. In front of its scholastic tasks, they assume a commitment attitude, they are interested in its obligations and they are able to orient itself by its goals.
