ABSTRACT

Ischemic stroke is a prevalent disease in the Western countries, being an important cause of disability and mortality. Atherosclerotic disease is one of the main causes of ischemic stroke. This article reviewed the main noninvasive methods for diagnostic and characterization of vulnerable carotid plaques.
