ABSTRACT

The hemangioendothelioma is a very rare vascular borderline tumor, which is not superficial located. We present the case of a 20 years old man, who had an ulcerated dermatological lesion in a paravertebral site. This tumor was composed by a distinctive type of endothelial cells that had an epithelial-like or histiocyte-like appearance. The cytoplasm was abundant and eosinophilic, often vacuolated. The nucleus was round, vesicular and occasionally indented. Vascular lamina was present. Mitosis, pleomorphism and necrosis were variable, but usually scanty or absent. The patient was operated and we discuss the histologic findings.
