Ocular disturbances, systemic erythematous lupus.

ABSTRACT

Ocular disturbances in patients with systemic erythematous lupus have been informed in 5 to 40% of the patients. They are found in all the layers of the eye but mainly in the retina. Recent reports insist on these lesions and their epidemiologic differences. In 15 patients with SEL according to the four criteria pointed out by the American Rheumatology Association, the common muco-cutaneous, articular, neurologic and ther visceral lesions were searched and proved. At a second phase a routine ocular exploration was accomplished including fluorangiography. Ophthalmic involvement was found in 26% of the cases, figure similar to that found in the medical literature.
