ABSTRACT

For several decades a "narrative twist" has been taking place in thought and culture. On the other hand, the impact of the new technologies of the communication and of the social relations at the global level is evident. All this puts the focus on the importance that have the things that we go, our stories, to build personal identity and make sensible decisions on a daily basis. That is why narrative bioethics acquires different functions: experiential and pedagogical, textual and dialogical, autobiographical and hermeneutics, for example. Today it seems clear that moral decisions not only have to do with values, principles and norms, but with circumstances, contexts and consequences, where actions and characters are intertwined, giving rise to the narrative as a method to make wise and prudent decisions in each moment. Prudence is the art of ethics.
