ABSTRACT
The aggressive parenteral nutrition has had a great
expansion in the treatment of the preterm newborn
(RNPT), due to the technological advances of the
requirements used. The aim of the nutritional plan is to
achieve a post-natal growth similar to the intrauterine
growth of a fetus of the same gestational age. Total
aggressive parenteral nutrition is defined as the
administration of a total of 4 g/kg/d of amino acids
during the first week of life. RNPTs that receive an
insufficient diet, consequently, restrict their postnatal
growth and present an early malnutrition with negative
and lasting effects. So it is essential to apply these
concepts in the RNPT.
