ABSTRACT

The cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of morbidity, mortality and years of life lost, mainly in populations with marked social inequities. The objective was to identify cardiovascular risk (CVR) and its relationship with some social determinants of health (SSH) in a population over 15 years of age in a locality of “La florida” Pereira- Risaralda. Methodology. Descriptive, quantiqualitative study. Non-random sample of 186 people over 15 years of age (neither pregnant nor with diagnosed CVD) from the town of Pereira-Risaralda-Colombia, who signed informed consent. House-to-house VCT surveys were conducted using Framingham Table adapted by the Ministry of Health and Social Security of Pereira; the data were analyzed with SPSS-V23. To identify social determinants: psychosocial, socioeconomic, socio-environmental and health services, interviews and observations were conducted; the information was coded and categorized. Results: The Cardiovascular risk was low and was present in 6. 5% of the population. Th e risk factors were, among the non-modifiable: age from 55 to 64 years, male gender and among the modifiable physiological type factors: obesity, high risk of diabetes (findrisk), family history of hypertension and diabetes. Of the social determinants, VCL was related to the following conditions: Psychosocial: family typology, lack of physical activity and smoking. Socioeconomic: inadequate eating habits, incomplete primary, income between 1 and 2 minimum wages and independent occupation. Socio-environmental were shown as protective: good communication channels, government support. Primary care through the health system is defi cient. Conclusions. Population with low CVR, favored by the socio-environmental conditions of the sector and physical activity.
