Significados, cuidados sanitarios y actividad sexual de hombres mexicanos durante el primer embarazo

RESUMEN

El objetivo fue analizar los significados, formas de cuidado y actividad sexual de los hombres durante el primer embarazo. Se empleó un método cualitativo, específicamente, la producción y análisis de contenido de relatos escritos. Participaron diez padres de la Ciudad de México y zona conurbada. Se empleó un instrumento que solicitaba datos generales, elaboración de dos dibujos a color y escritura de distintos relatos sobre experiencias personales y actividad sexual desplegada durante el primer o único embarazo. Se encontró que los participantes: (1) se vieron influenciados emocionalmente de maneras diversas desde la noticia de embarazo (sorpresa, preocupación, miedo, confusión, cansancio y estrés; o felicidad, amor, agradecimiento, esperanza); (2) proporcionaron distintos cuidados y apoyos en favor de la salud materno-fetal (labores del hogar, tareas de mayor esfuerzo físico, propiciar una alimentación saludable a la pareja, prodigarle trato cariñoso, acompañarla a consultas gineco-obstétricas, llevarla al parto); y (3) conformaron una actividad sexual que evitara daño materno-fetal (frecuencia e intensidad reducidas, posiciones sexuales cómodas, caricias tiernas) y resultara placentera. Se concluyó que la gama de hallazgos descrita conllevó la asimilación paulatina de los roles de cónyuge y padre proveedores y protectores desde el embarazo, antes del parto y el nacimiento del primer hijo.
