INTRODUCCIÓN

La anestesiología contemporánea ha experimentado una transformación significativa en las últimas décadas. Lo que históricamente se concebía como una disciplina centrada exclusivamente en el acto anestésico, hoy se reconoce como un componente crítico en la gestión integral del sistema quirúrgico. Este cambio responde a la creciente complejidad de los hospitales modernos, donde la coordinación, la eficiencia y la seguridad dependen de múltiples variables interdependientes.
En este contexto, el anestesiólogo ya no puede limitarse a la ejecución técnica. Su rol se expande hacia la toma de decisiones estratégicas, la gestión del flujo perioperatorio y la coordinación interdisciplinaria. Esta evolución no es opcional, sino necesaria para garantizar la sostenibilidad del sistema de salud.
