ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine the incidence of anesthetic complications that occur outside the operating room in pediatric patients. Material and methods: An observational, cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted in the period from March 2017 to March 2018, in the Imaging Unit of the Civil Hospital of Culiacán and in addition to the Pediatric Hospital of Sinaloa in a period of 2 months included in of the same period of study. The total population studied was 75 patients, of these only 67 patients were included; and 8 patients were excluded from the study. Results: of the 67 patients that were used in the study, the following were observed: nausea (8.9%), vomiting (2.98%), allergies (0%), respiratory depression (13%), laryngospasm (17%), bradycardia (13%) and cardiac arrest (0%). Conclusions: the anesthetic complications found in this study are consistent with the literature, which requires the presence of a trained anesthesiologist working in these areas.
