ABSTRACT

The peripheral odontogenic fibroma is a rare, ectomesenchymal, and benign neoplasm that usually manifests as a firm, smooth gingival mass. It is considered the most common lesion of the odontogenic peripheral tumors. The clinical manifestation simulates a variety of proliferative focal lesions of the gingiva including peripheral giant cell granuloma, peripheral ossifying fibroma, peripheral fibroma, gingival focal fibrous hyperplasia, peripheral ameloblastoma and pyogenic granuloma. Treatment consists of a surgical incision that generally has a good prognosis. Through this case report we try to clarify some of the clinical appearances, histological characteristics as well as treatment of this lesion.
