ABSTRACT

Cutaneous ciliated cyst (CCC) is an exceptional benign lesion, commonly found in the lower extremities of young women. Clinically it presents as a palpable subcutaneous mass. The histopathological characteristics are the presence of a cyst in the deep dermis or hypodermis, with papillary projections in its lumen, with a simple cuboidal or columnar ciliated epithelium. These cysts are thought to develop from ectopic müllerian remnants. The immunophenotypic findings correspond to the theory of heterotopia or heterotopic origin of the ciliated epithelium of Müller's epithelium, reactive for estrogen and progesterone receptors, WT-1 and PAX-84. The definitive treatment is surgical excision. In this article we report the case of a 24 year-old female patient with CCC in right thigh.
