Validation of the Job-Crafting scale with workers from the comprehensive security ser-vices enterprise

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Job-Crafting is the process by which an em-ployee gives shape to, models or redefines their job. The scale for its evaluation is a solid, acceptable and useful tool. Howev-er, validation studies were not found in Cuba. Objective: Validate the Job-Crafting Scale at the Comprehen-sive Security Services Enterprise (SEISA). Methods: A technological evaluation study was conducted of a sample of 278 workers. Two groups of judges were consult-ed: one for cultural adaptation and the other for content valida-tion. Estimation was made of the level of agreement between the experts. Internal consistency was measured with Cronbach's alpha statistical technique. Use was made of Ai-ken's V coefficient and exploratory factor analysis was per-formed. Results: 100% of the judges considered that the scale dis-played conceptual and instrumental as well as semantic and experiential equivalence. All the experts described the items as clear, relevant and sufficient. The scores in the Cuban version of the Job-Crafting Scale showed evidence of internal structure validity, with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of .732. Cumula-tive explained variance was as high as 95.6%. Conclusions: Job redesign may be evaluated with the Job-Crafting Scale, which proved to have appropriate content and construct validity, and be reliable for Cuban employees.
